The community is at the heart of everything we do at Scullion LAW
Scullion LAW Annual Debating Cup 2009-2019
Scullion LAW are proud to continue working closely with schools throughout North and South Lanarkshire. For the last 10 years we have been working closely with local MSPs, teachers and businesses to guide students through the art of public speaking in the hope they will grow in confidence, form opinions of their own and realise their views actually DO matter. We listen. We find the talent in our community so inspiring. We would like to thank all the teachers, pupils and staff that continue to take part in the annual Scullion LAW Debating Cup. The competition was last held on November 2019. Have a look on our facebook, instagram and twitter accounts @ScullionLAW for more updates and images. The winners of 2019 are St Andrews and St Brides High School in East Kilbride. Congratulations from us all.
FREE WILLS in aid of MARIE CURIE
Since 2014 we have been making FREE WILLS for everyone across Scotland aged 55 and over, in aid of Marie Curie. The FREE-WILL scheme continues to go from strength to strength, with thanks for the continued generosity and kindness of people in our community. Together we have generated a substantial amount of future income for the charity to care and support people living with a terminal illness. The campaign has just ended for 2019 but please keep an eye on our website and social media pages for updates as we plan to roll it out again in March 2020. So far we have helped nearly 600 people across Scotland make a FREE WILL and a Power of Attorney whilst raising money for a great cause. Every £20 raised in donations helps pay for one hour of nursing care. Every £180 raised, pays for someone with a terminal illness to attend the day therapy unit at the hospice. Every £1,250 raised pays for a portable oxygen system that will relieve distressing symptoms, so a person doesn’t have to be confined to bed. Every £ makes a positive difference. Since 2014 we estimate to have raised over £100,000+ for Marie Curie.

It is a charity close to many of our hearts.
A few of us took part in the 23 mile #Kiltwalk19 from Glasgow Green to Loch Lomond on April 28th. We raised over £2,400 as a team for charities close to our hearts and this was topped up by 40% by the Tom Hunter Foundation. We all really enjoyed taking part and kept each other going throughout the 23 miles. Emma,Sarah and Liz walked for Marie Curie, Gordon walked for Classrooms in Malawi, Nicholas walked in aid of Oxfam and Diana walked in aid of the Catherine McEwan Foundation, Glasgow to raise awareness of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. We have already got a team together for 2020.
Social Bite Sleep in the Park 2018/19
On 8 December 2018 Directors Nigel and Nicholas Scullion ‘Slept Out’ in the freezing cold, Kelvingrove Park to support Social Bite. They have so far raised over £1,950 to help end homelessness across Scotland. Well done to everyone else who took part in this amazing campaign. It is such a great charity to support and they are really making such a positive difference here in #Scotland to #endhomelessness.
What else do we do?
We sponsor local boxing, bowling and football clubs. We also sponsor various golf days and ladies lunches etc. We donate regularly to the foodbank and Marys Meals as well as to villages in Africa to supply them with clean drinking water and access to education. Our budgets are limited but we are always happy to help where we can. What we lack in investments we make up by giving our time, passion, effort and energy to help others.
Glasgow Business Awards – Healthy and Active Workplace
We were shortlisted for #GBA19 Healthy and Active Workplace Award. At Scullion LAW our people are always our priority and we want to ensure our internal environment is inclusive, diverse, safe and welcoming. We treat others as they wish to be treated. We respect each other and work effectively together. Everyone is accepted and valued. We celebrate the fact that each member of our staff is unique. We focus on mental, physical and spiritual well being. We have a large garden in Hamilton with a thinking swing, lots of large open windows, plants, standing desks, walking meetings, chill out zones etc and we are in the process of creating a multi faith/ mindfulness area. We also actively encourage fundraising. We want our team to be as fit and healthy as they can, by challenging themselves whilst doing something out of the box and raising money for causes close to their hearts. We also provide career progression, Spanish class during lunch time, subsidised yoga and subsidised gym access plus more. We want our team to be happy at work because we believe it encourages them to be more productive and in turn helps provide a better service to clients.
Our people are our greatest asset. We have a very strong, passionate team and our motto is ‘team work makes the dream work’.

WE CARE ABOUT OUR TEAM AND WANT TO SHOUT OUT ABOUT LAW CARE
We at Scullion LAW want to continue to create a healthy and supportive working environment for all our staff and their mental health. You may ask what exactly is mental health? Well…. In a nutshell it is our emotional, psychological and social well-being. Mental health, affects how we feel, think and act and directly correlates to how we handle stress, make decisions and how we relate to others. We are in the work place for the majority of our day and we want to stress to everyone that there is support if you require it. The support on offer is completely confidential and we will never even know that you reached out for help. Remember it takes a stronger person to admit that they don’t have all the answers when it comes to dealing with uncomfortable emotions or feelings!
