Affordability Improves for Glasgow’s First-time Buyers

Affordability increase for first time buyers in Glasgow

Scullion LAW would be delighted to help you take that first step on the property ladder. We know securing your first property is an aspiration for many, but the potential barriers facing first-time buyers, such as difficulty saving for a deposit and a lack of affordable housing, have been well documented.

It is therefore good to hear that affordability pressures for first-time buyers in Glasgow appear to be easing slightly, with the average price paid falling on a monthly basis. So there is no better time to start looking. Scullion LAW can help you get mortgage advice from our shared offices with Mortgage Advice Brokerage in the West End, Glasgow and we can note interest and put in offers for FREE when you see something you love… as well as handling all of the complex conveyancing.

Moving home should be fun. We want to make the experience as enjoyable for you as possible.

According to the latest figures from the UK House Price Index, the average price paid by first-time buyers in Glasgow fell from £114,422 in February 2018, to £112,176 in March – a fall of over 1.9%. This is the second month in a row that average prices have fallen.

The types of properties traditionally popular with first-time buyers have also seen a fall in average prices, with terraced houses falling from £146,976 to £144,792 (1.5%) and flats/maisonettes dropping from £109,937 to £107,755 (1.98%).
