We at Scullion LAW are delighted to promote a healthy and active work place.
One of the main ways we as a business achieve a healthy and active work place is by motivating, supporting and encouraging our team to take part in fundraising activities/ events/ challenges. As a firm we are very committed to the community around us and the well being of our team.
Fundraising gives our team a great sense of achievement and reward whilst raising much needed funds and awareness for causes close to their hearts. Supporting charities helps them to continue doing what they do and this in turn makes a positive difference to the lives of others.
Judith Higson our Associate Director and Family Lawyer, registered for the zip slide across the River Clyde raising nearly £300 in the process. Prior to the challenge Judith said ‘I am zip lining across the Clyde on 7th September for Alzheimer Scotland. As a dementia friendly solicitor and someone who is ageing fast, together with the fact that I see the struggles of the older generation and worry what the future holds for me, I am doing this zip slide with the intention that the funds go towards further scientific innovations and support for those suffering from Alzheimer’s. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Every penny raised will make a positive difference.’
Alzheimer Scotland works in the community to ensure that no one faces dementia alone and we as a firm are delighted to be Dementia Friends.
Post event we interviewed Judith
How did fundraising / taking part in the zip slide make you feel?
It felt wonderful to raise funds for this charity and doing the zip slide gave me a great sense of achievement. It was exhilarating and terrifying at the same time!
What did you enjoy most about the experience?
Scullion Law’s commitment to the charity gave me the boost to go ahead. Everyone here supported and encouraged me to be brave and face the fear! Having my family there (on the day) meant there was no going back as I wanted to show my children what they can do themselves.
Why did you decide to sign up for the zip slide?
I decided on the zip slide this year as it was (for a cause I care about) taking place in Glasgow and I could fit it into my busy family life, plus I love an adrenaline charged challenge.
What words of encouragement would you give to others in the firm or outside of the office thinking of fundraising?
The zip slide was very well organised and whilst it is scary, facing challenges and pushing yourself makes you feel proud of yourself!
