Award-winning law firm Scullion LAW are delighted to announce that Shanna McDiarmid, Practice Manager, has been promoted internally and is now an Executive Director of the firm.
Shanna, from Hamilton, has been with us since leaving school back in 2004 and she was the first hire made by Managing Director, Nicholas Jonathan Scullion when he joined the firm.
Nicholas Jonathan quotes “Shanna is an asset to our firm. She started as an office junior assisting with mail, filing and office administration back in 2004 upon leaving school. She was the first hire I made and has been a fiercely loyal, determined, hardworking, ambassador for the firm ever since. She has worked her way up from filing and admin to IT, audit and office compliance and in 2016 she was recognised with a promotion to Practice Manager. We are thrilled to further reward her with a promotion to Executive Director. I believe the success of Scullion LAW is largely down to Shanna, she is a rock and I would be lost without her. I would like to thank Shanna for everything she has done to contribute to the success of Scullion LAW.”
Nicholas James Scullion quotes “Shanna is a trusted and loyal colleague who has demonstrated what can be achieved by hard work, determination, honesty and a positive attitude. She is fiercely loyal and a brilliant ambassador for the firm. She looks for solutions where others see problems and is open to new ideas and ways of working. Anything is possible within Scullion LAW and if you are willing to put the time and effort into achieving your goals the sky is the limit. Thank you, Shanna, for your commitment to Scullion LAW and on behalf of all the Directors we are delighted you have accepted this promotion.”
When Shanna joined the team, it was clear very quickly that she was a special talent with a passion for organisation and IT. She looks for solutions where others see problems and is open to new ideas and ways of working.
As the business grew, Shanna was promoted to supervise the administration team and was instrumental in organising our office move from Church Street Hamilton, to new larger premises at 105 Cadzow Street in 2008. She has also been actively involved in the organisation of our annual Schools Debating Cup since its inception in 2010 which involves schools across North and South Lanarkshire. The competition continues to grow from strength to strength. We couldn’t do it without her.
Shanna also takes in and trains all the administration team, many of whom have come to Scullion LAW via the South Lanarkshire Routes To Work programme. Some of them have now gone on to become office clerks and one is now training to become a paralegal.
Diana McLeish quotes “Shanna is patient, caring, kind and professional. She has been a great colleague and friend over the years and I am delighted for her receiving this promotion which she so truly deserves. She is a greatly valued member of the Scullion LAW family. Well done.”
Notwithstanding the fact that she works a four day week, by 2012 she had taken on more responsibilities, primarily in IT and the training and recruitment of the office administrators and reception team. She was becoming more and more involved in other areas of the business, working alongside Mrs Scullion in audit and compliance.
Her dedication and hard work were rewarded in 2016 when Shanna was promoted to Practice Manager. Day to day responsibilities included running the day to day operations of the office and assisting Isabel McSeveny (who was with us for 27 years) and our cashier, Margaret McGuire (who has been with Scullion LAW 10 years) with the management of the business.
When Isabel retired in 2017, Shanna took a more active role in managing business finances and has been an active member of our management team as we have expanded into offices in Glasgow Saltmarket and West End.
The firm has a longstanding tradition of developing and promoting talent within. We are in a strong and happy place with Shanna in her new role.
Shanna has quoted “I am delighted with this promotion. It is a great personal achievement and I look forward to continuing to assist the Directors with thrunning of Scullion LAW.”
