We recently celebrated #PRIDE at the HQ of Scullion LAW, Hamilton office.
This year was especially important as it marks 50 years since the Stonewall Riots in New York, which is considered as the start of the fight of the gay community for their (our) rights. At that time the gay community in the USA and mostly everywhere in the world was discriminated, imprisoned or even killed for who they loved.
Antonio from Scullion LAW quotes ’50 years later we have made good progress. We now live in country that allows gay people to marry and to have the same right as any other person. However, this took lot of effort and activism from many people and there is still a long way to go. Although there are now over 20 countries that recognise gay marriage worldwide there are still 7 countries were being gay is punished with death penalty and many others were it is still illegal and results in imprisonment and/or physical punishment.
We have gathered with our colleagues to celebrate pride and to show to everyone that Scullion LAW is committed to diversity and to all human rights, which includes gay rights. We believe it’s an important thing to do.
