Scullion LAW are proud to celebrate 4 successful years working closely with Marie Curie.
Since 2015 we have been successfully creating FREE Wills for everyone in the local community aged 55 and over. This annual scheme is in aid of Marie Curie who do great work, supporting people with terminal illness at home and in the hospice. The FREE Will scheme runs every year during spring and this year we have created nearly 200 Wills. We hope to continue running this scheme every year as it continues to grow from strength to strength.
Nicholas Scullion Managing Director quotes ‘It is so important for us as a local organisation to be able to give something back to the community. We are committed to ensuring everyone gets a Will as there are so many benefits of creating one, it should not be left to chance. Planning ahead for a happier future is so important and we are thrilled that over 580 people so far in the local area have completed their Wills since 2015. We hope to continue working with Marie Curie every spring to sign up more people to the scheme and to raise a substantial amount of future income to support the charity with thanks to everyone for their generosity in support of the amazing work Marie Curie do. Marie Curie is a charity close to our hearts and we are forever grateful of all the effort, care and love they give to others’.
Diana McLeish of Scullion LAW says ‘We have raised the most amount ever this year for Marie Curie with extra special thanks to the generosity and kindness shown by everyone in the local community. Everyone went above and beyond to donate towards the charity. This future income generated will make a huge difference to the lives of the terminally ill throughout Scotland. Marie Curie provide care and support for more than 8,600 people in Scotland each year. Marie Curie need to raise around £15 million a year to fund their Glasgow and Edinburgh hospices and nursing care in Scotland. So thanks to everyone in the local area who has donated towards this target to make a difference to the lives of others’.
Hazel Crombie Marie Curie Legacy Advisor for Scotland came into the Scullion LAW office to meet with our lovely private client team yesterday. We presented the data gathered from the last few years highlighting how many people chose to leave a gift in their Will and she was absolutely thrilled. The FREE Will scheme is free for everyone to sign up and there is no obligation to leave a gift but many people leave some form of gift which is great. This year we had more people leaving gifts than ever.
Hazel Crombie said “The Free Wills scheme has gone from strength to strength over the last four years and we really appreciate the hard work of the Scullion LAW team in supporting Marie Curie. Every Gift in Will supports our work ensuring terminally ill people and their families get the vital care and support they need.”
