Darren joined the firm in 2025 as a Solicitor Advocate. He has over a decade’s worth of experience in the criminal courts ranging from his time as a Sheriff Clerk Depute in one of the busiest courts in Europe to defending cases in the Justice of the Peace Courts, Sheriff Summary Courts, Sheriff and Jury Courts and the High Court of Justiciary.

In 2009 Darren graduated with an honours degree in Business Law and began working at Glasgow Sheriff Court as an administration officer before being promoted to Executive Officer and Sheriff Clerk Depute. He worked exclusively in the criminal courts and gained an in-depth knowledge of criminal procedure. Whilst working full time, Darren studied for his law degree on a part-time basis and began his traineeship at a well-respected busy court practice in Glasgow city centre in 2015.

After qualifying, Darren moved to another well-respected, prestigious and multi-award winning law firm in Glasgow where he developed his advocacy skills in Sheriff and Jury matters. In 2022 he returned to the firm where he trained and a year later, qualified as a Solicitor Advocate, obtaining extended rights of audience in the High Court of Justiciary and Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.

Since qualifying as a Solicitor Advocate, Darren has been instructed as Junior Counsel in a number of High Court cases, including trials for attempted murder, road traffic offences and serious sexual offences. In 2024, Darren was instructed as Crown Junior and assisted in the prosecution of a serious sexual offence and murder trial at Edinburgh High Court. This provided Darren with a unique opportunity to widen his experience and understanding of the criminal justice system in Scotland.
