Nicholas J Scullion
Founder and Senior Consultant
Nicholas James Scullion founded Nicholas J. Scullion & Co. in 1979. The firm rebranded as Scullion Law in 2010 and he remains a Senior Consultant with the firm. He is highly respected by clients and peers alike, and over the course of 40+ years of criminal law experience, he has gained an excellent reputation for his degree of preparation and advocacy skills both in the Sheriff and High Courts all over Scotland. He has conducted thousands of cases including trials, Fatal Accident Inquiries and actions in the Court of Session over a long and distinguished career.

Nicholas Scullion
Solicitor and Managing Director
Nicholas is the Managing Director of Scullion LAW and an experienced civil and criminal practitioner. As well as taking a prominent role in managing all business areas, he offers clients a bespoke criminal and road traffic law service. Before qualifying as a solicitor, Nicholas worked in sales and marketing and that additional expertise has been integral in growing the vision and reputation of the firm beyond. His pastoral care and management of cases are exceptional as is his forensic attention to detail.

Kris Buchanan
Director and Head of the Criminal and Road Traffic Law department
Kris is a Director and Head of the Criminal Court Department. Since joining the firm as a trainee in 2011, he has risen through the ranks and was made a Director in April 2018. He is our dedicated road traffic specialist and has conducted and managed over 1500 Road Traffic matters since 2012, ranging from serious cases of causing death by dangerous or careless driving to more standard road traffic matters, including technical cases such as speeding, drink driving, and other matters.

Gemma Miller
Director and Head of the Property Law department
Gemma Miller joined in 2001 and was promoted to Director in 2022. Gemma details in all aspects of conveyancing and has a particular interest in dealing with complex and problematic transactions. She graduated with an LLB in June 2019. Gemma balances work life, home life and studying. She has a lovely family and is an approachable, confident and valued member of staff.

Shanna McDiarmid
Director of Operations and Performance
Shanna joined Scullion LAW in October 2005 and is an incredibly valued member of staff. She started as an office junior helping with our IT systems. As other administrative staff came into the firm, she was given the opportunity to help with their training and management. A couple of years later, she started working closely with Nicholas as his PA. She was promoted to Executive Director in 2015 and to Director of Operations and Performance in December 2022.

Judith Higson
Executive Director and Head of the Family Law department
Judith has been practising Family Law since 2003. She is an Accredited Family Law Specialist, an Accredited Child Law Specialist, an Accredited Family Law Mediator, a Collaborative Lawyer and a member of the Family Law Association. Judith is a UK Legal 500 recommended lawyer and has over twenty years of experience in guiding her client through separations, divorce and child law cases, often with an international element. Judith has been involved in reported and unreported cases dealing with novel aspects of the law.

Charmaine Trainor
Executive Director and Head of the Client Care department
Charmaine joined us as a receptionist in October 2012, returning to Scotland after a 20-year spell in the US. In 2016, she was promoted to Client Care Manager. Charmaine has a driving passion for delivering excellence in client care! She was promoted to Executive Director in 2022. Charmaine really enjoys leading the sales team and ensuring that every prospective client who reaches out to Scullion LAW is met with care, professionalism, and the best legal service.

Yvonne Lynn
Receptionist
Prior to joining Scullion LAW, Yvonne worked for Jackton Distillery as a distillery coordinator. She has also worked front-of-house/reception at Tuv-Sud and as a corporate receptionist at the BBC. Yvonne worked for the Scottish Police Recreation Association for several years as an administration officer. Yvonne’s hobbies and personal interests include kayaking, travelling, reading, and spending time with her family and her furry baby.

Martin Longridge
Finance Clerk
Martin joined us in December 2018. He is a joy to work with, and he is a valued member of the Support team. He is always willing to help and goes above and beyond for everyone. “Having worked here for several years now, my happiness and commitment to the firm have only increased. I feel supported by the management team and encouraged to have a good work/life balance, which they accommodate.”

Antonio Deban Valles
Profitability Officer
Antonio joined Scullion LAW in December 2018. He studied Food Safety & Microbiology and worked in food, biotech and medical companies prior to joining us. In his spare time, Antonio enjoys going to the gym, travelling and meeting friends. He is warm, friendly, outgoing, and hardworking. He was promoted to Profitability Officer in April 2023 and is one of our two people currently based in Madrid, Spain.

Jordan Preston
IT Coordinator
Jordan joined Scullion LAW in February 2023 and studied for four years to obtain his Bachelor of Engineering in Cyber Security. With a background in retail and warehousing, Jordan enjoys interacting with others whether that be achieving goals or socialising. In his spare time, he likes to go on hikes, go to the gym, play guitar and gaming.

Administrator
Scott joined our busy support department in November 2022. Obtaining a Bachelor of Laws – LLB, Law from the University of Strathclyde, Scott has been a delight to work with and has quickly become a valued member of the team. He is diligent and hard-working.

Aimee Holmes
Administrator
Aimee is an Administrator at Scullion LAW. She started in May 2023 and thoroughly enjoys her role. Aimee has an HNC and HND in Legal Services, which allows her to use some of that knowledge while also developing it. In her spare time, she loves to socialise with friends, spend quality time with family, and travel to see new places.

Amy Glassford
Administrator
Amy Glassford joined Scullion LAW in 2017 via the ‘Routes to Work’ 8-week programme with South Lanarkshire Council. She was offered the role of Administration Assistant after successfully finishing the programme. She is diligent, hardworking, and beloved by her colleagues. She contributes greatly to the smooth running of the support department.

Rachel Teeling Smyth
Receptionist
Rachel joined Scullion LAW in September 2023. Prior to this, she worked for Black & Lizars Optometrists as a receptionist in their city centre branch and later in their head office, leading a patient communications team. Rachel trained in professional dance and is a qualified classical ballet teacher. She taught for several years before moving to Scotland from England in 2022. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, going to the gym, and visiting new places.

Jenna Kennedy
Administrator
Jenna joined Scullion LAW as an administrator in September 2023. She has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, which sparked her interest in working for a law firm. She is able to put the abilities she acquired at university to use in her work. Jenna is a dedicated and motivated person who worked as a professional lash extension artist before joining Scullion LAW and she now does this as a hobby in her spare time.

Hazel Rodden Sinclair
Client Care Specialist & Paralegal
Hazel joined Scullion LAW in March 2020 within our busy Road Traffic Law Department. Hazel is a qualified paralegal and was previously a finalist for paralegal of the year at the Scott & Co Scottish Legal Awards. She has a wealth of experience in various areas of law including criminal, family law, insurance fraud and litigation. She is an asset to our team.

Shellby Slavin
Client Care Specialist
Shellby joined the firm in 2022 as a Client Care Specialist. She previously worked with customers in Arnold Clark, Virgin Media and a recruitment agency. This has built up Shellby’s skills and interest in dealing with clients. She provides top-notch client care services to Scullion LAW clients, helping them get the best legal services for their needs. She is warm-hearted, attentive, and highly skilled.

Shaun joined the client care team in July 2022. After graduating with a degree in Public Relations, Shaun has previously worked in multiple positions within the retail sector for over 10 years, bringing a wealth of customer service experience to the team. Going above and beyond to deliver great client care already comes as second nature.

Yvonne Fleming
Client Care Specialist
Yvonne joined us in December 2018 when she worked in reception at our Hamilton office. She now works as a Client Care Specialist within the firm. Yvonne is warm, welcoming, and friendly. She previously worked for DWP, Arnold Clark Hire Drive and recently spent time running a business with her husband. She possesses a deep knowledge of the firm’s service range.

Aynsley Baxter
Client Care Specialist
Aynsley joined the firm in September 2023 as a Client Care Specialist. She has worked in Sales and customer service for over 15 years since graduating from university with a business degree. Her most recent role was selling new build homes. She enjoys listening to clients’ wants and needs and arranging the best fit for them. Aynsley is ambitious, hardworking, and trustworthy, and she can put clients at ease during what can be stressful situations.

Digital Marketing Manager
Sarah joined the Scullion LAW team in August 2022. She has a BA HONS in Public Relations and Marketing from Queen Margaret University and used her marketing skills in a variety of industries including hospitality, maritime and the snowsports industry. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys travelling, horse riding and spending time with family.

Doyin Akinola
Digital Marketing Manager (temp)
Doyin joined Scullion LAW in January 2023 and has extensive experience managing non-profit and for-profit communication initiatives in Africa and Europe. He earned an MSc in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, and a business degree from the University of Wales. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

Nick Harbison
Associate Director
Nick is an experienced and skilled solicitor in our Property Department. He has specialised in property law since qualifying in 2000. He is experienced in dealing with complex title deeds, land registered and sasine, and advising clients on achieving the best possible outcome. He deals with purchases, sales, and title transfers. Nick joined Scullion LAW as a Senior Solicitor in April 2018. He is greatly valued and popular with both staff and clients.

Associate Director
Farrah joined Scullion LAW in April 2015 and is now an Associate Director within the Residential Conveyancing Department. Farrah is very easygoing, professional, hardworking, a pleasure to work with and a valued member of staff. Farrah enjoys spending time with her loved ones and making spontaneous plans!

Mandy Terras
Conveyancing Clerk
Mandy joined Scullion LAW in 2016 as a Conveyancing Clerk having previously spent 12 years as an office manager for Estate agents. She now assists our Conveyancing Department with all administration tasks. She leverages her many years of hands-on experience to deliver excellent services to clients on behalf of the department and firm. She is an integral part of the team.

Gillian Brown
Paralegal
Gillian joined Scullion LAW 2015 and works part-time assisting the conveyancing team with registrations. She qualified as a paralegal in 2005 and has over 24 years of legal experience. Gillian is a friendly, easy-going, and popular member of the team. Her vast experience has proved invaluable over the years within the Property department and the firm.

Conor Greenan
Trainee Solicitor
Conor joined the Scullion LAW team in February 2022. He graduated with an LLB from Strathclyde University in 2021 and then from Strathclyde University in 2022 with a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. Conor is also a professional football referee for the Scottish Football Association. He is a Trainee Solicitor with the firm.

New Business Secretary
Stacey joined us in September 2012 as an Admin Assistant. She has worked within the Support Department and Criminal department. For the past six years, she has been a member of the Conveyancing department, assisting clients in the early stages of their property search. In her spare time, Stacey enjoys spending time with her son and fiancé and socialising with friends.

Janice Dobbie
Paralegal
We are delighted to welcome Janice Dobbie back to Scullion LAW. Janice worked in conveyancing for over 20 years.
Janice had been with the firm for several years, working alongside Gemma, but had to take some time out due to family commitments. We are thrilled she has re-joined our property team.

Ailidh Ballantyne
Senior Associate Director
Ailidh joined the team in 2022 as an Associate Director. Practising Private Client law since 2009, Ailidh provides advice to individuals and families on a broad range of private client matters. With a background in Family Law, Ailidh understands the complexities which can arise when advising clients on their estate and tax planning needs. She was promoted to Senior Associate Director in August 2023.

Amelia Fraser
Paralegal
Amelia joined us in 2019 as a Legal Secretary, working diligently in our Private Client department. Prior to working at Scullion LAW, Amelia had been a legal secretary in another firm for over 10 years. She became a Trinee Accredited Paralegal in January 2022 and an Accredited Paralegal in February 2023. She receives outstanding reviews and feedback from the clients she works with.

Trainee Solicitor
Sarah joined us in June 2015 as a conveyancing paralegal within our Property department. Sarah works part-time and has been a great source of support during the Marie Curie project helping people draft Wills and Powers of Attorney working closely with the Private Client Team. She studied for her L.L.B at Strathclyde University and in April 2023, she became a Trainee Solicitor.

Nicola Buchanan
Senior Associate Director
Nicola has been practising exclusively in the field of family law since 2005. She specialises in divorce, financial provision, cohabitation, contact/residence disputes and relocation cases as well as the preparation and negotiation of Minutes of Agreements. She is experienced in complex financial provision cases and in highly acrimonious contact and residence disputes. She has extensive court experience and is an Accredited Mediator and fully trained Collaborative Lawyer.

Laura Cousins
Solicitor
Laura qualified as a Solicitor in March 2022 and is based in the Family department at Scullion LAW. Laura advises clients on various Family Law matters, including separation, divorce, cohabitation, and child contact. She is certified by the Law Society of Scotland in trauma-informed law. Patient and attentive to individual needs, Laura is focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for her clients.

Liz Semple
Paralegal
Liz joined us in October 2017 as a Legal Secretary working in the Private Client and Family Departments. She has since progressed in her career and has gained a Family Law Paralegal Qualification. She has contributed immensely to the successes of the Family Department, which won the Scottish Legal Awards 2022 Family Team of the Year and the Scottish Enterprise Awards 2021 Family Law Firm of the Year.

Anna MacKay
Associate Director
Anna joined the firm in 2020 at Associate level, bringing with her a wealth of experience as a well-established criminal defence solicitor. Anna trained as a prosecutor before establishing herself as a criminal defence solicitor in 2012. She has a breadth of experience defending in summary and solemn proceedings across Scotland. A confident litigator, Anna fights to achieve the best outcome for every client in every case. In 2022, she was promoted to Associate Director.

Urfan joined Scullion Law in 2020 as a respected Solicitor Advocate having gained extensive experience throughout Scotland in the management, direction, and presentation of High Court, sheriff and jury, and summary trials. Michael Stewart
Solicitor
Michael joined Scullion LAW in July 2022. Michael graduated with honours from the University of Strathclyde. He completed his traineeship at a busy west of Scotland firm specialising solely in criminal defence. He has experience in dealing with a very broad range of summary matters as well as assisting counsel in the High Court of Justiciary with the most serious of cases, including serious and organised crime, murder, drug offences, fraud, and sexual offences.

Patricia Barclay
Secretary
Patricia joined Scullion LAW in January 2017, working from our Glasgow Office within the Road Traffic Law Department as Front of House/Criminal & RTD Legal Secretary. Patricia started as an Office Junior at the age of 16 with a Glasgow Law Firm where she worked her way up to PA/Office Manager over the last 30 years, gaining lots of experience and skills during her progress.

Aimee Urquhart
Paralegal
Aimee is a fully qualified paralegal in criminal law. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in social science with an interest in forensic psychology and criminology. Since leaving the university in 2017, she has been working in criminal defence law and commercial dispute resolution. Aimee’s passion lies in criminal law, and she loves working alongside the rest of the team to provide the best service for clients.
