Founding Partner Nicholas James Scullion went to University at 22 as a mature student and did his apprenticeship at Glasgow City Chambers.
He worked in the Public Sector for a few years before starting his own business in 1979, then known as Nicholas J. Scullion & Co. Solicitors.
Specialising in Conveyancing he moved into offices at 71 Quarry Street Hamilton, where he worked as a Sole Practitioner until the miners’ strike when he diversified into court work. He quickly developed a reputation as an excellent performer winning cases other Solicitors would not take on. He remains one of the leading Criminal Defence lawyers in Scotland.
His confidence, charisma and presence are famous throughout Lanarkshire and he continues to be very popular with criminal clients for whom he always delivers. He also works with Road Traffic LAW saving licenses throughout Scotland. He is passionate about the LAW and people.
As the firm grew, Nicholas moved to 5 Church Street, Hamilton and by 1992 employed 7 Solicitors.
With the arrival of Martin Carey, the Conveyancing Department expanded. He is a credit to our organisation.
Martin used his experience and contacts to create an award winning team of hard working professionals around him, of which we are very proud. We now have one of the top ten practices in Scotland and Property LAW is at the core of our business – going from strength to strength.
We rebranded from Nicholas J. Scullion & Co to Scullion LAW in 2010 after we won the prestigious Criminal LAW Firm of the Year Award.
Mr Scullion continues to work as a Consultant and his son Nicholas now runs the business working with the board of Directors including Martin, Robert and Isabel. These people are core to the success of the firm. Nigel Scullion also works with the team as a Criminal Defence Lawyer.
Over the last 30 years, we have developed a reputation for excellent service by putting clients first. We now employ in excess of 40 staff working within the following departments: Criminal LAW, Road Traffic LAW, Family LAW, Wills & Estates and Property LAW.
Road Traffic LAW is now one of our most popular departments and is led by Robert Sheridan who won ‘Specialist Road Traffic Defence Lawyer’ of the year in 2015. His reputation throughout Scotland as one of the leading lawyers in this area is spreading year on year.
Our Criminal LAW department is led by Jason Stark.Less
