Stephanie Grieve Shortlisted For Reservist of the Year 2024

Scullion LAW is proud to announce that our Senior Solicitor, Stephanie Grieve, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Reservist of the Year at the Scottish Ex-Forces in Business Awards 2024.

Stephanie started at Scullion LAW in June 2023 as a Senior Solicitor. Over her career to date, she has gained a wealth of experience representing clients all over Scotland in both Summary and Solemn matters. She is experienced in defending clients in all manner of cases, from Murder to Road Traffic matters. Her unwavering dedication to her work has been widely recognised, and she has received accolades from both clients and legal professionals alike. Testimonials from satisfied clients highlight her professionalism, attention to detail, and unwavering support throughout her client’s legal journeys. In recent times, she has been liaising with the Armed Forces to assist military personnel in both civilian Courts and Court Martials. This assistance goes beyond Criminal Defence as she collaborates with other Solicitors within the firm to deliver expert legal representation in areas such as Family, Conveyancing and Executry. She has also started a referral network of other like-minded solicitors in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. These Solicitors are also ex-forces but, until now, had been operating separately. Stephanie has brought them together to better serve the Armed Forces wherever they may be needed.

Stephanie believes that every client deserves great service, every time. In particular, Stephanie is keen to assist members of the Armed Forces with all of their legal needs. In November 2023, Stephanie helped forge the Military Law Department within Scullion LAW. We are delighted to announce that Scullion LAW has now signed the Armed Forces Covenant and offers a 10% discount to Armed Forces Personnel. On 9^th November, 2023, Stephanie hosted a Remembrance Networking Event at Scullion LAW. The event was a huge success, with over 65 attendees from across the Services. The event received very positive feedback and will likely be an annual event at the firm to honour the fallen and commemorate our Armed Forces.

Stephanie is keen to make a difference and to help clients when they need it most. She has first-hand knowledge of what it means to serve in the Armed Forces. She combines this understanding with her confidence, expert knowledge, and determination to push her clients’ cases to test the Crown case and achieve outstanding results.

With her military background, coupled with her wealth of experience in Criminal Defence, clients can be assured that they will receive expert legal representation and that their cases will be handled professionally, efficiently, and with great care and attention to detail.

In addition to her work in her civilian career, Stephanie is 2Lt Grieve, 2 Platoon Commander, 243 Provost Company 1RMP. She is responsible for creating and implementing the training programme each year, developing her soldiers’ careers and characters, and providing them with an example of leadership (Exemplo Ducemus- lead by example). She achieved the King’s Commission in 2023 after undertaking the modules during her maternity leave. Although she was injured on the last module and later required surgery, it did not slow her down. She maintained her positive attitude and “hopped” up the famous steps of Old College to confirm her Commission. During her recovery, she has continued to lead, mentored soldiers in their career development, organised events, and spearheaded a team fundraising for Combat Stress’ “Marathon In A Month”. Due to injury, Stephanie could not run the distance, but it did not prevent her from walking the required distance to raise funds and awareness of Veterans’ mental health and the important work that Combat Stress provides. She now leads a team raising money for The Great Tommy Sleep Out in March 2024.

Lastly, Stephanie has endeavoured to reach out and network with other Reservists (of all ranks) to offer support where she can. Stephanie recently attended an Employer Engagement Event and plans are in motion for Stephanie to speak with school leavers and university students about both a career in law and a career in the Army.

Stephanie is passionate about both of her careers, and she works tirelessly to bring the two together. There is a wide gap between the civilian legal profession and the Armed Forces, at present. Stephanie hopes to bridge the gap to ensure that members of the Armed Forces receive the top-tier representation that they deserve.
