Following his graduation with honours from the University of Strathclyde, he embarked on his legal journey with a traineeship at a prominent west of Scotland firm specialising exclusively in Criminal Defence, before joining our court department.

His experience spans a wide array of cases, from instructing counsel in high-profile matters in the High Court of Justiciary—including serious and organised crime, murder, drug offences, fraud, and sexual offences—to representing clients in sheriff court cases, ranging from domestic assault to financial offences and extensive road traffic matters.
Beyond the courtroom, Michael has also successfully represented footballers in Scottish Football Association hearings, achieving findings of “not proven” in cases where players were originally banned for a period exceeding two years.
