Scullion News & Resources

There are certain moments in your career that make you reflect on the journey behind them. Being invited to contribute to discussions at the Law Society of Scotland’s Conveyancing Conference was one of those moments for me.

Celebrating 25 years

This year also carries personal significance, as in July I will celebrate 25 years with Scullion LAW. Reaching that milestone has made me think carefully about how much the profession, the property market and the expectations of clients have evolved during that time.

When I joined the firm in 2001, I was focused on learning the job properly and building experience. Over the years, that developed into a career in conveyancing, becoming a paralegal, completing my LLB, completing my Diploma, while working full-time and raising a family, and eventually stepping into the role of Director and Head of Property Law.

That journey has shaped how I approach leadership, client relationships and the standards we set as a team.

Client Expectations

One of the main themes I discussed at the conference was client care. Expectations from clients have changed significantly over the last decade. People want clarity, responsiveness and reassurance throughout the process, especially during transactions that carry financial pressure and emotional stress.

At Scullion LAW, we have invested heavily in creating a service that reflects those expectations. Our consistent five-star reviews on platforms such as ReviewSolicitors are a direct result of that focus.

A major part of that success has been the implementation of our dedicated Client Care Team. They play a critical role from the very first interaction with a client; answering immediate questions, identifying the nature of the enquiry and ensuring clients are directed to the right solicitor quickly and efficiently.

Providing Timely and Effective Advice

That structure has strengthened the experience for clients and improved the way our Property Law team operates day-to-day. Solicitors are able to focus on progressing transactions and advising clients effectively, while clients receive support and communication from the outset.

Experiences like that matter. Clients remember how accessible you were, how clearly things were explained and whether they felt supported throughout the transaction.

Recognising Great People

Leading our Property Law team through a demanding and fast-moving market has pushed me professionally and personally. It has strengthened my confidence, broadened my skillset and given me the opportunity to contribute to wider conversations within the legal profession.

I am proud to represent our team in those discussions, particularly when sharing approaches that have delivered genuine results for clients and colleagues alike.

I have also been fortunate to work alongside exceptional people throughout my career at Scullion LAW. The support, trust and opportunities I was given over the years played a major role in my own development.

That is something I now try to pass on within the team myself. Helping people build confidence, develop their abilities and progress in their careers is one of the most rewarding parts of leadership.
